This is a pre-owned Royal Mint coin, offered in its original presentation packaging with a numbered certificate of authenticity. The certificate records an issue limit of 5,000 individual proof Half Sovereigns for 2006, though Spink's guide to decimal coinage suggests that only 4,173 were actually issued, in addition to those included in sets.
