The 2025 George Orwell £2 features a new design by Henry Gray, inspired by Orwell's dystopian novel Nineteen Eighty-Four which centres on an eye-like security camera with 'BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU' around the pupil and 'GEORGE ORWELL' below.

Error Strike Your Own Coin Edge

The edge of this £2 coin should read 'THERE WAS TRUTH AND THERE WAS UNTRUTH' but instead features the edge inscription from the definitive £2; 'IN SERVITIO OMNIUM'. This error appears to have occurred because left-over blanks with the edge pre-struck were used with the new Orwell design for a few hours.
